Westermos industrielle WLAN-Geräte (Wireless Local Area Network) wurden entwickelt, um eine zuverlässige, kontinuierliche Hochgeschwindigkeits-Datenkommunikation in extremen Betriebsumgebungen zu gewährleisten. Dazu gehören die Überwachung von Zuggeschwindigkeiten und Gleisbedingungen sowie die Bereitstellung von Onboard-Videoüberwachung und Passagier-Hotspots.
Die WLAN-Geräte erfüllen die Norm EN 50121-4 für streckenseitige Anwendungen sowie die Norm EN 50155 für Onboard-Anwendungen. Neben den Bahnanwendungen eignet sich die WLAN-Reihe auch sehr gut für den Einsatz in anderen Industriezweigen mit schwierigen Betriebsbedingungen und schwierigen Umgebungen wie dem Bergbau.
