Westermo designs and manufactures data communications products for mission-critical systems in physically demanding environments. The products are used both in social infrastructure, such as transport, water and energy supplies, as well as in process industries, such as mining and petrochemical.

The realisation that the needs of the industry are different from those of corporate IT creates growth in the requirement for industrial grade data communication. The industrial operating environments are tough and the impact of failure in the field can lead to business threatening situations demanding that products have a lifetime in excess of 10 years. Westermo Eltec

On April 1st, 2021, Westermo acquired 100% of the German company ELTEC Elektronik AG, a technology company specialised in wireless communication for connected trains and automotive applications. ELTEC products and services are used for providing digital network and wireless communication solutions for passenger Wi-Fi, infotainment as well as predictive maintenance. Westermo Ireland

On October 30, 2019, Westermo acquired 100% of Virtual Access Limited, an Irish-based technology company specialising in wireless industrial routers and gateways, and managed connectivity services for customers in the utility, traffic management and telecommunications sectors. Westermo Neratec

On July 8, 2019, Westermo acquired 100% of the Swiss company Neratec Solutions AG, a technology company specialized in WLAN products with a high focus on reliable and robust wireless communication solutions for the train and trackside sector. The Neratec product offering and brand is part of the Westermo Group and is sold and marketed through Westermo sales channels.
