On-board systems have progressively become more complex and the requirement for secure, robust, and reliable data communications is integral to the safety of our railways. Millions of people rely on railway transportation systems every day, with the expectation that the train arrives and departs on time, customers are safe during transit and their data is secure. This is no easy task and takes many thousands of systems in place to ensure all these operate, especially together.

This enables upgrades or replacements to be seamless, as the new unit fits perfectly into existing systems. At Westermo, security is paramount to our product design. The Viper 3000 series, with its ongoing IEC 62443-4-2 SL2 Certificate, stands as one of the most secure products available today. The IEC 62443-4-2 certification provides supply chain transparency, enabling full confidence and collaboration throughout every process. This complements many other conformities that the family offers, such as EN 50155, EN 50121-3-2 and EN 50121-4.  

The Viper 3000 series is powered by WeOS 5, Westermo’s next generation operating system. WeOS 5 offers a best-in-class OS, such as extended logging, firewalls, and Secure Boot. With Secure Boot Westermo ensures that only trusted and authorized firmware is allowed and is compatible with all WeOS devices. Secure Boot   protects devices from malicious software, which could lead to high jacking not only the device but the whole system itself.
