In a recent interview, Gösta Kallner, Executive Chairman of the 450 Alliance, shared his thoughts on private networks using the 450 MHz spectrum.
From the perspective of the 450 Alliance, 450 MHz is the lowest standardised spectrum for mobile systems and is focused on industrial solutions. The spectrum is used for private networks, which are disconnected from public networks, enhancing security.
A primary advantage of using the 450 MHz frequency is the extensive coverage area per transmitter. Users typically need a secure network with good coverage, whether it's for many low-bandwidth users or a few broadband users. We see the 450 MHz spectrum as well suited to utility, public safety, transportation, and agriculture.
The 450 Alliance is a non-profit organization that operates on a global scale, concentrating on the frequency spectrum range of 380 to 512 MHz. Our work encompasses spectrum discussions and consultations with users and regulators globally, supporting use cases, and driving the end-to-end ecosystem.
Wide coverage, enhanced penetration, and reliability make 450 MHz an excellent choice for private networks, especially those that require robust, wide-area coverage and secure, reliable communication channels.
