Pioneering the future of rail connectivity with Blu Wireless

westermo invests in mmWave technology for rail connectivity

In a landmark move, Westermo has acquired a minority stake in Blu Wireless Technology Ltd, a UK-based innovator in mmWave wireless solutions. This strategic investment not only signifies a financial stake but also marks a new era of strategic partnership aimed at revolutionizing train-to-ground communication in the rail market.

Blu Wireless Technology (BWT) has developed a mmWave wireless solution for rail that provides high bandwidth and low latency connectivity from trackside to train. The BWT mmWave technology provides Gigabit data throughput, increased security and cost-effective deployment, by utilising the unlicensed frequency band 57GHz to 71GHz.

As a global leader in communication on board trains, Westermo is now preparing to integrate Blu Wireless's cutting-edge mmWave technology into its offerings, reinforcing its commitment to connected trains and high-speed communication.

This partnership is a significant step towards solidifying Westermo's position in the connected trains market, leveraging technology that promises high bandwidth and low latency connectivity. As we look to the future, Westermo's strategic partnership with Blu Wireless is more than an investment—it's a commitment to innovation, sustainability, and the advancement of the rail network market. With this collaboration, Westermo is not just playing a part in the present; it's shaping the future of rail connectivity.
